Home Task Group
The LonMark Home and Whitegoods task group is primarily focused on collaborative marketing programs to promote the use of interoperable products based on LonWorks technology in the home market. In addition the group reviews the applicability of functional profiles developed by other groups to applications in the home.
Whitegoods is the name commonly referring to home appliances for cooking, cleaning, and cold storing. They usually encompass "major appliances" (rangetop, oven, microwave, clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator), but the group will also encompass smaller "portable appliances" (toasters, etc.) as profiles are needed for such things.
The group's profiles try to complement the efforts of two of the industry's leading organizations, as our members bring their needs to us: the European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers (CECED), located in Brussels, Belgium, EU; and the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), located in the Washington, DC, US. Efforts of companies involved with other groups are welcome and encouraged.
Efforts are toward both monitoring (for energy use, time-of-day use, fault conditions, and maintenance) and control (remote shut-off, delayed start, sequential start, and initiation of low-power/noise modes) using the Interoperable Self-Installation (ISI) protocol.
