The International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo®) once-again was held at McCormick Place in Chicago.  Co-sponsored by ASHRAE and AHRI, the AHR Expo is a comprehensive and hands-on event, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from every facet of the Industry and this year's event was no exception:  It provided a unique opportunity to network with engineers and contractors, building managers and owners, system designers and installers, systems integrators and automation specialists, and technicians. With special sections of the exhibit floor dedicated to Software and Building Automation & Controls, the 2012 AHR Expo was the perfect place to see and experience the latest innovations and equipment in the industry.  Additionally, there were a wide variety of educational opportunities, such as classes offered by leading Industry organizations, including LonMark International, special full and half-day seminars, and brief New Product Technology presentations by Exhibitors in theaters located right on the Show Floor. Since 1930, the AHR Expo has been the HVAC/R professional’s leading resource for new products, new ideas and new services.  It’s a hands-on, interactive event that showcases a wide spectrum of equipment, systems, and components.  This unique industry forum creates a dynamic learning environment unequaled in size and scope by any other industry event.

LONMARK hosted its annual general meeting on Monday, January 24th at the AHR Expo in Chicago with a Member Appreciation reception where the recipients of the Best of LONMARK awards were honored.

The Smart Energy International Conference & Technology Expo served as the smart-energy industry’s platform to the future.  Building on the success of Spintelligent’s Smart Energy East & West Coast Conferences over the last four years, Smart Energy International pulled together the best-of-breed from the smart energy conference series from across the US and pulled-in the technological and financial interests and focus of Silicon Valley. 

The 11th annual International Conference for Enhanced Building Operations – the leading “how-to conference” for reducing building energy use through enhanced optimization techniques – was held in Brooklyn, New York and was co-sponsored by the New York State Research Development Agency, the US Department of Energy, the Alliance to Save Energy in Washington, DC, and endorsed by a number of leading companies and organizations involved with high performance buildings such as the IEA Energy Conservation in Buildings and Community Systems Programme. ICEBO brought-together building industry professionals, building operators, researchers, and policy makers, interested in the latest advancements in optimizing building comfort and energy use.

AEE was very pleased to bring the WORLD ENERGY ENGINEERING CONGRESS (WEEC) to Chicago's magnificent Navy Pier, having taken place October 12-14, 2011.  This was its 34th year and the WEEC is well-recognized as the most important energy event of national and international scope for end users and energy professionals in all areas of the energy field.  It is the one truly comprehensive forum where you can fully assess the "big picture" – and see exactly how the economic and market forces, new technologies, regulatory developments and industry trends all merge to shape your critical decisions on your organization's energy and economic future.

GridWeek 2011 gathered the industry's top minds to define the strategy for grid modernization and advancement with the goal of informing business, policy and solutions decisions now and in the future.

GreedWeek was attended by utilities, policymakers, regulators, vendors, environmentalists, consumers and technologists.

LonMark International was a GridWeek “Endorsing Partner Association” and LonMark Members got a discounted entry fee.  Look to the GridWeek website for details of the next event.

The GovEnergy workshop and trade show provided effective-energy-management training to federal employees and their associated stakeholders.  The goal was to foster opportunities to further educate and encourage the best application of practices, products, and services as they relate to energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency, and greenhouse-gas management within the federal sector.

The 15th annual CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase, was hosted by international research firm Parks Associates, and attracted hundreds of executives focused on innovative consumer technology solutions.  This unique conference and showcase highlighted consumer and industry research from Parks Associates, showcased key players and new technologies, and delivered insight and recommendations for new business models and opportunities in digital media/content, mobile applications and services, connected consumer electronics, broadband and value-added services, and home systems.  LonMark International was one of this year’s SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS of CONNECTIONS™.

Electrical Building Technology Guangzhou was designed to showcase the intelligent building-control and -automation market in China.  It provided a comprehensive platform to gather building-related professionals such as technical engineers, planners, developers, systems integrators, as well as industry traders.

LonMark International's Executive Director, Ron Bernstein, participated in this year's event.

ConnectivityWeek was a compilation of many different events all under one umbrella; including Buildings events, Grid events, Machine-to-Machine events, and many others.  It was held in Santa Clara, California. Held this year in Philadelphia, the world's largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, LIGHTFAIR® INTERNATIONAL blended continuing education courses with innovative products ranging from high-end design to cutting-edge technology.

It was a record-breaking attendance and the largest LFI exhibit hall in the event's 22-year history.

The LonMark® community gathered May 11th and 12th at McDonald’s Hamburger University for LONCOM Americas 2011.  This two-day event was for anyone that specifies, develops, installs, maintains or uses open, multi-vendor control systems utilizing LonWorks® technology or LonMark open systems.  The event provided indispensable information that you can apply in your job or business.  Industry experts represented many facets of the industry ecosystem; sharing their perspectives on how to get the most of out this powerful technology platform.

This year, the well-known Xs2HiTek workshop was organized at the Van Leeuwenhoek Nanolab in Delft, The Netherlands.  The event was held primarily in the Dutch language. 

The ISH provides the world's biggest showcase for innovative bathroom design, energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning technology, and renewable energies.  LonMark Germany and its members exhibited at this year's ISH.
